Becausewe can...

Raving is the right to dance, to gather, to enjoy one another, to meet, to laugh, to expand and contract, to get up, to get down, to sleep a little before the next round. Some have said I shouldn't use the word "right"... I call a society where people aren't allowed to gather every so often and dance together OPPRESSED.

People often seem to have severe misconceptions about raves. Some misconceptions include the habitual use of Ecstacy or other drugs by all rave participants, open sex acts and other travesties. Although I'm sure somewhere, somehow, somebody throws parties that may match this description, the raves I have had the pleasure of attending in the bay area have been predominantly about dancing, socializing, and having a great time. People seem to be at their best, in love with life and their environment. Good raves are surrounded by an energy, the result of good intentions, good music, good planning, and good people. We refer to this as the "vibe". It is an exciting general sense of well being and positivity. Expectations and preconceptions dissolve, and all that is left are a bunch of amazing and beautiful people who amaze one another with graciousness, openness, and loving. Some people go to one rave and don't go to another, but others find the music, community or open environment useful to their lives.
The rave 'culture' (assuming there is such a definable group available) tends to fall back on the PLUR ideals in their behaivior and interaction. PLUR stands for Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. Recently I buckled down and wrote what that meant to me.
PLUR
I personally am tickled to death that I found such warped things to do with my time.
Here's some pictures of my recent visit to a Moontribe event.
