PLUR
Peace:
I leave my spears and slings and fears at the door. I come to make friends and meet friends, and strive to find joy in all those who are gathered here.
Love:
If you smile at me, I will understand. If you ask me, I will try. If you embrace me, I will hold you with my eyes closed in a world where none of this can find us. I open myself to you. My energy is your energy.
Unity:
My past affiliations are nothing in the face of what WE could do together. I come with empty hands ready to create and an open heart ready to understand.
Respect:
I choose to be with you tonight, rather than my mother or father or friends or those I labor with. I know you have made a similar decision. And for this decision, you have already earned my respect.
PLUR was originally (and I could be as wrong as I usually am) intended to be a cute acronym for the ideals a group of people when interacting in a non hostile manner. I'm still assuming here, but they were concerned about people who were perhaps fighting, or being disrespectful or in some other way rude or worse (fighting, tagging, and being a generally annoying human). They didn't want to say what people SHOULDN'T do... but rather outline what seemed to be some good guidelines. I've never given this much time to an acronym... I guess it's because some folks walk around spouting about plur and being cute and all, while leaving half chewed blow pops with their rave saliva all over them. Somebody has to clean it up. Sometimes it's even me. Most of us realize that we're probably not collectively ready for this to be the way our laws should be written, but as a general goal, it does well to those who make an effort to integrate into their behaiviors. If all of this is confusing or annoying.... just be nice to each other okay?
